Oh, I’ve missed you.
It’s been a wild last four months. I did my first ever internet marketing launch, and then ran a rockstar program where 30 women walked away with the talks of their dreams, and THEN…the San Francisco and NYC School for the Well Spoken Woman LIVE Events. Which were, truly, off the hook.
*SF LIVE Ladies – just a little private joke:))*
I’m thrilled. I’m deeply satisfied. And I’m tired☺
I’m chillaxin’ in Kauai in my new Brazilian bikini (took almost as much courage for me to wear this thing as it does to get up on stage. And yes, I’m using my tail to channel my nerves into grace & confidence) {For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about, watch “the Tail Technique” video.Works wonders for the stage…and bikinis, as it turns out!} I’m tan, happy, and contemplating life. Tomorrow I disappear for a week on the north shore for a Feminine Tibetean Buddhist meditation retreat.
Enough chit chat. Here’s what I want to talk with you about today:
Frankly, it’s commitment to what you know you need to get out there and say in the world that’s going to carry you beyond the darkest layers of resistance to speaking up.
I know a thing or two about resistance.
Here’s what it looked like for years:
I’d feel inspired and want to get out there and put forth my voice or my creativity.
I’d start to take action.
Then, I’d begin to have thoughts like “It’s not good enough” or “What if people don’t like it” or things like that. Fear, self doubt and shame would take over.
Finally, I’d back off from my initial inspiration and my plans would lay dormant. I’d suffer. Cry. Feel horrible. Long like crazy for the depth of actualization and contribution my soul is just aching to create.
Then inspiration would arrive… And the cycle would repeat itself over, and over, and over.
I’ll never forget a particular plane ride back from England. We were talking about my deep love of this work that had begun to emerge supporting in women in writing their talks and getting their voices out there. It was coming so naturally and organically into my life and I was happy as a clam doing it.
He asked me to have a commitment ceremony to this venture, so that I didn’t repeat the same painful cycle of inspiration, action, self doubt and retreat again.
Shortly afterwards, we sat on a hill overlooking the San Francisco Bay. He “married” me to my commitment to support women in going full throttle in unleashing the brilliance of their voices for the next 12 months of my life. I put a little diamond ring on my finger to anchor it in, make it real and to serve as a reminder to stay in action and seek clarity, even when my mind freaked out.
That commitment has carried this mission far in such a short amount of time. TED & TEDx speakers, including my own two TEDx talks, the Middle East, three epic School for the Well Spoken Woman LIVE events, six figure income, and a whole lot of hard work and satisfaction.
I have had moments of “oh sh*&*!!” and abject worry, but the purity of the love of this commitment has saved the day, over and over again. It has brought opportunities and doors into my life that I never would have dreamed.
It has given me focus on calls with women working on their speeches when I was super tired. It has given me strength, and ultimately has been a source of profound joy.
I recommend it.
I recommend you make a commitment to what you know you must do. To what you know you must say.
I swear: if you commit to the profound longing and brilliance of your heart and your voice, the world will open its arms to you in ways you could never possibly imagine. You will become the woman who is designed to lead that charge.
Tell me: what must you commit to? What is longing inside you to GET OUT THERE!? Say it. Share it. Write it in the comments here. Make it publicly known. Then get someone you love and trust and have them be a witness to you wedding yourself to your voice and the calling that you know is yours to fulfill.
PS – Videos of the positively brilliant talks from the SF and NYC LIVE ladies and our all star audiences (wow – truly the most incredible audiences EVER), are coming soon.
PPS – For those of you who are aching to really speak up with freedom in your life with MEN – and it’s so huge to get this dialed in… It affects everything – check out my friend Kavita Patal’s video. Amazing guidance.

Wow, you should have a ceremony like that in the three amazing days that we have before the Talk. Find what you want to commit to and do a ceremony. ! That would be awesome! I have the perfect picture of a ring for you. I’ll send it via email. Glad that your vacation were restoring. Love xo
KC – this is beautiful! It’s exactly what I needed to hear today! I will lock in my commitment and make it happen, anchor it to me and just go for it! Thank you so much for your wise words!
KC, I am floored, honored, and scared shitless by your post. All I know is that I want to be committed to myself, my vision of what author entrepreneurs can be, starting with myself. I want it to be okay to focus on my art FIRST business second. Can I really have that? Dare I actually give that to myself, really?
KC! I LOVE THIS!! And the perfect timing for it! Going to fashion my ritual and I have a man like David who would do it for me. You have rocked it allllllllllllll the way to that beach and bikini! I am soooooooo inspired by you! LOVE!!
What an intriguing, thought-provoking post. Thanks for sharing it. Look forward to hearing back from you. (Sent a message.)
