I’m so thrilled to be part of Kate Northrup’s Money Love Stories project as part of the launch of her new book, Money: A Love Story. Kate interviewed me about MY money love story and I have to say, it was pretty juicy and eye opening!
What you don’t know is that after I left investment banking, I traveled around the world for four years, went through all my savings, cashed out all my investments, and went into debt. I was soul searching, looking for my way to bring my voice and value to the world, and going into debt in the process.
I felt constantly stressed about how I would make the next dollar to survive, and deeply held back in giving what I had to offer to the world.
I had a major realization that changed all of that. And since that realization, my mission, my work and my financial life have thrived as a result.
In this interview with Kate, I share how I transformed my relationship to what I have to contribute to the world and, as a result, to my relationship with money.
Kate is doing extraordinary, uncommon, paradigm-shifting work in supporting people in transforming their relationship with money. The central idea behind her work is revolutionary, frankly.
The idea is this: Money is a taboo topic and it’s a source of shame and fear for many. In order to heal our collective discomfort and avoidance around it, we’ve got to talk about it and bring it into the light. Telling our own stories and being an example of working toward having a loving relationship with our money is a damn good way to do that.
The more people who step up and talk about money in public, the more people everywhere will be inspired to engage with it in more powerful, loving ways. And then, of course, we’ll change the world.
Kate’s approach is fresh and surprisingly relatable in a sea of experts who often bore, scare, or shame their audiences.
Money: A Love Story is a uniquely kind and rollicking guide to getting your finances on track. It’s chock full of inspiring stories -including Kate’s own of getting into and out of $20,000 of credit card debt – and 29 eye-and heart-opening exercises.
The book takes a fun, understanding, and – most of all – proven approach to creating true financial freedom. You won’t find any shame, blame, or finger wagging here. Just tons of relatable moments and simple, step-by-step guidance to living out your own money love story.
Whether you want to pay off your debt for good, rake in more income, or forge a lifestyle of true freedom, Money: A Love Story is your road map. True abundance, financial clarity, and a loving relationship with your money (and yourself) are all yours for the having. This book will take your hand and show you exactly how to get there.
