The state of our world has been laying heavy on my heart as of late, and I have some things to say.
First and foremost, my heart goes out to every Muslim American and those living outside of our borders who are being so radically misrepresented and threatened by the words of Republicans running for president.
I cannot fathom what they must be going through.
It is imperative we speak up in our communities in support of Muslim Americans.
Speaking up – making your care and allegiance known and vocal – is absolutely crucial to prevent fear from taking hold and warping people’s minds. Fear kept so many from speaking up for the Jewish people in the Holocaust. Let us not do the same.
I fell in love with a beautiful Palestinian man when I was traveling abroad, just after 9/11. When I later went to visit his family in the West Bank, I was so deeply touched by his family and the incredible warmth and love of the Palestinian people I met there. I learned then that the media does a hell of a horrible job portraying the true nature of Muslims abroad, filling us with continual fear and bias against them. What you see and read in the media simply is not “The Truth.”
Secondly, I can sense the growing fear in the climate around us. Perhaps you see and feel it too. That is exactly what these terrorists want- to fill our minds with fear so that we live less free.
It is incumbent upon us to respond with absolute love, full blown creativity and all the generosity and gratitude for life we can muster.
These are the attributes of living in true liberation.
We counter and ultimately overcome fear and domination in this world by devoting ourselves unequivocally to the liberation of our hearts, our minds and our bodies.
That is what I stand for and rest in during these times.
Because I will not be terrorized. And I will not be dominated.
So I will continue doing my work to support women in bringing their voices and wisdom to this world, because I truly believe that this is the key to transitioning out of this dominator model of civilization – that values death above all – and into one that reveres life, freedom and well being.
And I will dance.
I will dance in the face of all of this violent insanity with the raging wildness of my love.
The more we are who we truly are, and allow love to work its way through every nook and cranny of our lives, the stronger the force field of love surrounding our planet becomes.
And in times like these, that is exactly what we need.
Love,
KC
I love that you wrote this post. I love that you spoke up for justice and fairness. I love that you included fun, and not being stopped in the face of growing divisive political posturing. I’ve stood for justice all my life and I’ve found that I can make the biggest difference by being the best me possible always. If I am centered and in balance, I can be kind to those who need it most, yet might be the hardest to be kind too. Awesome post.
I dance with you K.C.
We must be intentional in all moments, in all situations, in all of our relationships, in all of our thoughts and deeds… to bring more LIGHT!
Thank you for your words and clear stand! I also see the necessity to stop the terror and anger everywhere including in myself. Your post is inspiring.
K.C., I am in total agreement with you! I will not let fear guide my heart.
Thank you.
Linda
Well said K.C. The best advice I have had is clear any hate from your own heart and fill the space with love. Fear cannot thrive in love x
Right ON Sister! Thanks for sharing this beautiful stand against fear. Fear makes people do crazy things, we must stand together in love for each other, only love can rectify fear.
Much respect to you for writing such a necessary post and using your voice for justice and compassion. Beautiful. Let love rule. Kindness always counts.
KC-I wholeheartedly agree with you. Thank you for shining your beautiful light. Kindness, compassion, tolerance and love will win every time. And my heart breaks for anyone who is judged unfairly by what someone else does. That is NOT what we stand for in America and hopefully as a people. Thanks for speaking out!xxoo
Thank you for these wonderful words of profound wisdom…
I will dance too, today, and will feed the flame of passion, love and creativity in honor of all those like you who dare to speak up and talk love to the world.
THANK YOU!
